on 340 - Faculty Development

I have read with care what you have posted in the sections:

"Faculty Development and Sabbatical Committee"
AND
345: "Sabbatical Leave Policy"

While I understand fully that I am not the final arbiter of what constitutes the
authoritative, definitive text, I do feel compelled to point out several major inaccuracies
and inconsistencies in what you have posted that are likely to confuse colleagues if not
corrected/clarifed quite soon:

A. Faculty Development and Sabbatical Committee

1. Since the governance structure was changed two years ago, we have TWO wholly
distinct committees: one for Faculty Development Grants and another for Sabbatical
Leaves. These two Committees, the first c haired by Charles Cannon, the second by
Bill Frederking, have functioned independently and effectively throughout the 2004-
2005 academic year;

2. My understanding is that neither Committee is a sub-committee of Academic Affairs.

3. We have been using the lnaguage of Grants, rather than Awards, for Faculty
Development monies disbursed by the Committee.

4. Applications for Faculty Development Grants and Sabbaticals are available only
online at http://cte.colum.edu, and NOT in hard copy from the CTE.
